Welcome back,I hope you enjoyed the brief mid-winter break! Please remember there are no classes this week for our full day programs. Those families enrolled in Friday Care may send their children Wednesday and Thursday Feb. 19th & 20th for Extended Care in the Grey Elephant Room. The room will be open typical Friday Care hours, 7:30-5:30.

Freedom’s Footsteps: A Hands-On Family History Event

Join us for an afternoon of history, creativity, and community at the Royal Oak Historical Museum on Sunday, February 23, from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m.

Experience the powerful story of the Hamer Family’s journey on the Underground Railroad, explore the Tangled Web exhibit, and meet Shaelyn Simms, author of Journey to Freedom: The Hamer Family Story. Shaelyn will share the creative process behind her graphic novel at 3:00 p.m.

Activities include:

  • Storytelling by the ROHS Diversity Club
  • Art projects hosted by the ROHS National Art Honor Society
  • Light refreshments

Copies of Journey to Freedom will be available for purchase ($5 – cash or Venmo). Please bring a new pair of socks to donate to Outreach on Seventh.

Join us for the Community Resource Fair on Tuesday, February 27 from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Royal Oak Farmers Market.

Hosted by the Community Engagement Advisory Board in collaboration with Royal Oak Farmers Market, and the Royal Oak Inter-Club Council, this event offers families the chance to:

 

  • Explore Interests: Learn about community resources, opportunities, and volunteer initiatives.
  • Find Answers: Connect with local organizations and experts to address questions and concerns.
  • Foster Connections: Build relationships with fellow community members in a welcoming environment.

Addams Early Childhood Center

A significant step in your child's success...

The Early Childhood Center is a family-friendly learning center with trained staff and unique opportunities for sharing and collaboration. Youngsters from 3 to 5 years of age participate in developmentally appropriate and individualized educational programs. The pre-school curriculum based on Early Childhood Standards of Quality, along with parent involvement provides a solid foundation for the future success of our students.

The dedicated staff continually evaluates and enhances the various programs in order to meet the continually growing needs of our children, families and community.

  • Young Oaks/Latchkey Program Registration- District wide registration for the Young Oaks Program is at Addams Early Childhood Center (ECC). Each elementary school houses a Young Oaks Program.
  • Young Oaks Summer Care (DK-5th Grade)
